Original program notes:

There is no unifying harmonic, melodic or timbral content throughout these movements. However, as the title suggests, each movement makes use of cluster harmony and counterpoint. Within these works I also sought to explore varied parameters to create subtleties for each 'performance.' Aspects of each patch are controlled by small random parameters that can vary each time the piece is played.

No. 1: Utilizing feedback, a simple musical passage is transformed into a dense cluster. The movement then reconstructs this simple passage using the feedback as additional accompaniment.

No. 2: Droning secundal harmonies with the high and low frequency spectrums accompany a slowly developing melodic passage. This passage makes use of chromatic relationships within its phrasing, drawing parallels and contrast to its accompanimental drones.

No. 3: A simple chord progression is presented as a single sound. The form of the movement isolates the individual characteristics of each chord as its leads to the final cadence.


The recordings presented here are the original compositions with only minor equalization/mastering applied.
