Originally based off improvisations recorded between 2020-2021; “Void Sky” eventually morphed into an endeavor to edit and refine the improvisations into a finished interconnected work. The album explores various feedback techniques in disparate frequency ranges as a means to examine the absence of those frequencies not heard.

The original improvisations themselves were inspired by concept of Via Negativa. A concept, that when applied to philosophy, can be thought of defining through absence. Working with feedback and contrasting drones became the focus of the album. Visual inspiration followed in the form of as a vast void. The defining features of which can only defined by what one cannot see beyond it. Immediately, or perhaps instinctually, I was draw to imagery evoked by existentialism; ‘the void’ or ‘the precipice’ for example.

“Void Sky” is an examination of textural density, feedback techniques, and the contrast between composition & improvisation.
